Ouch! Why does my cat bite me?
Cat biting is a common problem among lot of cat fans. And they define it as a bad cat behavior. If you want to make sure that your cat wont’ bite you, then you have to make him aware that it hurts. Usually cat biting happens as your cat does it without knowing it. We are going to discuss some little tricks to avoid your cat biting you.
If your cat bites you for a single time, that is not something to be taken serious. It could be that he had been excited by something unexpected. (Like a dog or something scary). This is not a bad cat behavior.
Don’t suddenly drag your hand away if your cat bites you. Freeze yourself and slowly push your hand towards him, if he bites. This will cause him to get confused and he will loosen up. Let him know that cat biting takes away all the fun. Stop whatever you were doing with him for minimum ten minutes. Punishing for cat biting won’t work. If you punish, he will associate the pain with you and will think of you as a scary person. So, he would avoid you at all cost.
Slap a shoe on the floor making a huge noise. Or do something like that to convey a strong message saying that cat biting hurts. Your cat will have to reconsider whether he wants to go through that experience once again.
There is another wonderful way to convey the message when cat biting happens. Shout with a loud noise (“OUCH!!!”)
Be more strategic and you can find many ways to acknowledge him without any punishment or resentment. Most of all, cat biting is not a bad cat behavior but it is a way cats use to communicate. Have you ever said one of your friends, “take me serious here!!!”. Cat biting conveys the same message no matter it is done for fun or due to anger. Have a pleasant time with your pet!
