ats make wonderful pets in every corner of the world. Where there are cats, it is fair to say that there are cats urinating problems too. And it is a major cat behavior problem everyone who has experienced this knows that it is very hard to remove the smell it causes. Ammonia, urea crystals and bacteria are the major causes of this problem. Using any kind of cleaner which contains ammonia, would worsen the case as cats love to eliminate where there is ammonia smell.
Keeping the litter box clean is the first wise thing to be done. Cats can smell things which people can’t, therefore when you clean the litter box, make sure that it is hundred percent clean (don’t just rely on your senses alone)
Some infections cause a cat avoiding litter box. Feline urinary tract infection is one of them. It shows following symptoms.
1. A pain while urination (They may moan while urinating.)
2. Excessive grooming is the second symptom – Study the cat behavior your pet shows
3. Avoiding the litter box is the most annoying sign (using the litter box very often or not using it at all is very important signs to be noted). When a cat feels pain in urination, it would associate that pain with the litter box. The result is cat avoiding the litter box. Cat thinks of the litter box as a scary and horrible thing to use. Bloody pee is a common symptom in urinary tract infection. Even though it is not deadly you should arrange a trip to a vet. So, not only the cat you will also be relived.
Most of the times, a calmed pet would not show urinating problems. Stressed and anxious ones often avoid the litter box.
There are good pet cleaners available in the pet store. Use a good cleaner to completely remove the odor due to cat urination. Covering up the smell doesn’t work at all; as cats can smell better than us (I have mentioned it earlier too). They repeat the same cat behavior if the place is not totally clean. There is a small trick to be used if your cat is doing it just because of its own stubbornness alone. (This trick has been created by studying the cat behavior issues) Put its foods there after totally cleaning the area. Cats never mess up the area they eat.
